39th International Convention - Canadian National Anthem Contest
Replacement Ballots
****Replacement Ballots****
With the recent wildfires in the Wood Buffalo area we anticipate a high demand for replacement ballots from our membership in that area. If our members in this area have provided Canada Post with their temporary address they probably already have their ballots, otherwise Canada Post is holding their mail until the community is stabilized. Please watch this site as we are currently communicating with Canada Post to discover their proposed timing and plans to resume mail delivery in that area.
Because of these special circumstances any member who is registered as a Wood Buffalo Resident with the Local Union can pick-up a replacement ballot any time after Monday, June 13, 2016. The rest of our membership who are not registered as Wood Buffalo residents can pick up replacement ballots any time after June 27, 2016.
All members requesting replacement ballots must visit one of the Union offices in person and present photo ID to obtain a ballot, if you do not have photo ID please phone the Edmonton office and we will try to find alternatives to this requirement. Please be advised, we are not permitted to mail replacement ballots
AFL Kids Camp
AFL Kids Camp
Hello Brothers and Sisters
On Monday June 6/2016 Sister Stephanie Roberge, Brothers John Mintah and James Hawreliak drew the names for the attendees to the AFL Kids Camp in August.
They drew the names of the children of Heather Keef, Sean Thompson, Jason French, Sean Hutchison and Dave Wilson.
I would also like to again say thanks to Brother Nick Chornyj for his gracious donations and allowing another child to attend the AFL Kids Camp.

Attention All Members; Elections Notice
Attention All Members;
We are carefully watching the ongoing dispute between Canada Post and their employees who are members of CUPW. Their contract expires on July 2, 2016. We have assurances from CUPW that unless management does something unexpected they have no intention of going out on strike, but a real possibility exists that their employer Canada Post will lock them out.
As you know we are using Canada Post for our Election and any shut down could affect your ability to have your vote counted. We have contacted our International and asked them to approve an alternate way for you to get your vote in. They have advised us that they are not prepared to grant any special disposition and that we should advise our membership that Canada Post is the only way to cast your ballot. ANY MEMBER WISHING TO VOTE SHOULD ENSURE THEIR BALLOTS ARE IN THE MAIL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Members who were evacuated from Noralta & Black Sands camps on May 16
To all 424 members who were evacuated from Noralta & Black Sands camps on May 16, 2016 and had to leave personal belongings behind. After first responders deemed the area accessible, Suncor arranged for security personnel to collect belongings from rooms which were evacuated, and stored these items in a Quonset at the voyageur site.
On June 15th Suncor put out an announcement on their corporate facebook page that these items had to be claimed and picked up or they would be “disposed of”; they extended the timelines to the end of the month. Suncor will release this personal property to the owners with proof, identification and description of property, or authorized person if the release form has been filled out and signed Click Here for The Form
It is important to act on this immediately as Suncor will be disposing of these items after June 30th 2016.
- June 28th/ 29th access will be granted between 10am-10pm
- For individuals requesting a contractor to collect their belongings, a signed “release” form will be required
- For individuals collecting their belongings - ID will be required, camp where belongings were left, along with a description of what they left.
- Suncor requested this information last week, to date I have only submitted requests for 3 individuals.
- On June 30th, all unclaimed items will be discarded.
